Jim Sustar - Senior Pastor
Pastor Jim Sustar was born and raised in Southern California. His parents spent the first part of his life planting and establishing churches, and traveling across the country as an evangelist during the tent revival days of the 1950’s. Jim grew up seeing tremendous miracles, healings, and various signs and wonders through the ministry of his father, James E. Sustar – mentored by Dr. A.G. Garr, who was at Azusa Street. Because of this, Jim has not been willing to accept anything less than the manifest Presence of God in his life, church, and those he mentors as a father.
Jim and his family have lived in Wooster, Ohio for thirty-one years. He and his wife, Shirley, have been married for forty-one years, and have four adult children and ten grandchildren. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1963 – 1967, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. Thirty-three years ago, Jim began his pastoral ministry as Youth Pastor at the Covina Foursquare Gospel Church in Southern California. For the past twenty-five years, he has resided as co-founder and Senior Pastor of Heartland Christian Center in Wooster, Ohio. He also gives oversight to three churches in the Balkans. His passion continues to be the Presence of God and equipping Harvesters to win souls and make disciples throughout the world.
Shirley Sustar - Senior Associate Pastor
Pastor Shirley Sustar serves alongside her husband, Jim, Senior Pastor of Heartland Christian Center, as his Senior Associate in Wooster, Ohio. They have been married for forty-one years and have four adult children and ten grandchildren.
Shirley actively pastors the women of Heartland Christian Center and trains teams of women to teach, counsel, and give oversight and care to other women. Her desire is to equip and release spiritual Mothers in the kingdom of God. She is the author of two books, Women of Royalty and Become a Woman of Power, and ministers outside her local congregation in the U.S. and abroad.
Shirley also serves on the advisory board for the Pregnancy Care Center of Wayne County, where she once directed the Post Abortion Counseling Ministry. Shirley has a love for the prophetic and a passion to see people recognize and arise to their potential in Christ Jesus. Isaiah 60:1-3 Amp.
Bill Beery - Administrative Pastor
Pastor Bill Beery is ordained with Heartland Christian Center and serves the church as its Administrative Pastor. He holds a Bachelors degree in Biology and was a lab technician for the Ohio Agriculture Research and Developmental Center for twenty-five years.
Bill and his wife, Teri, have been married for thirty-nine years and have three adult children and six grandchildren. They have been a tremendous strength and support to Heartland since its inception. Bill has a passion for prayer and the Presence of God. With his prophetic gift, and her mother’s heart and teaching gift, they labor together as a team in marriage and family ministry.
Japhet Ntia - Evangelism and Cell Ministry Pastor
Pastor Japhet Ntia is ordained with Heartland Christian Center and oversees the Evangelism and Cell ministry of the church.
Japhet was born and raised as a Pastor’s son in the Akwa Ibom State of Uyo, Nigeria. There, Japhet grew up seeing and understanding the power of God and His victory over darkness. He led the intercessors’ all night prayer meeting ministry and evangelistic outreach in his church in Nigeria, while studying as a pre-med student. However, in 1996, God changed Japhet’s direction by relocating him to Wooster, Ohio, where he married Jennifer Sustar. They have been married for twelve years and have four children. They carry the fire of God, with a passion to win souls and make disciples. Strong in deliverance and the seer anointing, they are a dynamic Apostolic/Prophetic team.
Jody Jarvis - Children and Youth Pastor
Pastor Jody Jarvis has been overseeing the children’s ministry of Heartland Christian Center since 1995 and has been ordained as its Children’s and Youth Pastor. Jody’s sensitivity and heart of compassion, along with her fun sense of humor, has made her a magnetic friend and counselor. Her greatest desire for the youth is to see them become so intimately acquainted with God that they would never think about leaving Him!
Jody graduated from Ashland University in 1983 with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and Reading. Until 1988, she worked for Ashland Christian School in Ashland, Ohio as a reading tutor and substitute teacher. She has been the administrator of a day care and has also owned and operated Creative Minds Learning Center Preschool. Since 1999 she has been the Director of the Abstinence Education program through the Pregnancy Care Center of Wayne County, where she teaches the value of sexual respect and purity to students in public schools. This includes the C.A.T.S. (Concerned About Teen Sexuality) program, which takes teams of teenagers into the county’s high schools, junior high schools, and church youth groups to share the “abstinence until marriage” message through talks, skits, and creative presentations.
Jody has been married for twenty-five years to Dan, an intercessor who has been a great support and strength to her and the ministry. Together, they have three adult children.
